mobile.

So many websites are designed without considering mobile customers and yet so much of our online activities now take place on our smartphones. It’s a really important part of designing for the best user experience.

I don’t think my customers are mobile users. –

You could well be right, but I challenge you to monitor your analytics and see for yourself how many of your visitors use a mobile phone. And if you are right, that could always change in the future.

Will it cost me loads more? –

It will take more time to develop as we need to check that the design works for most formats and we will need to make tweaks to support the website in different ways. But it won’t take loads more time no, certainly not double.

Can I exclusively show some things on mobile? –

Absolutely! And we recommend that you do if there are advantages to doing that.

For instance we often recommend that customers have a ‘Get Directions’ link at the top of their contact page on mobile phones. This means that customers on their way to you, can quickly find directions, but those at a computer see your contact form first.

So does this mean I need two websites? –

No, not at all. A correctly built website will use the same content twice but have different rules for displaying the same content. Check out these two images for an example of the same content on computer and smartphone.
